I refer to your correspondence received on 15 February 2024, seeking access to documents
held by the Department of Home Affairs, under the Freedom of Information Act 1982 (the
FOI Act).
Scope of request
You have requested access to the fol owing:
Under the FOI Act, can I please obtain a copy of the diary for the Minister for
Immigration, Citizenship and Multicultural Affairs The Hon Andrew Giles MP on 14
September 2023. To expedite this application names and contact details can be
redacted.
The Department of Home Affais identified that the documents they maybe in scope this
request request would be in the possession of the Office of the Minister for Immigation,
Citizenship and Multicultural Affairs. As such, the Office accepted a the transfer of this
request on 21 February 2024 under section 16 of the FOI Act.
Your request has been al ocated FOI request reference MO24/02/00001. Please include
your FOI request reference in al correspondence with the office of the Minister for
Immigation, Citizenship and Multicultural Affairs and the Department of Home Affairs
Freedom of Information Section.
Request for extension of time
The current due date for your request is 16 March 2024.
The Minister seeks your agreement under section 15AA of the FOI Act to extend the
timeframe for the processing of your request by 30 days. This would extend the due date for
your request to Monday 15 April 2024. The extension wil al ow for assessment and
consultation processes.
Please provide a response to this request by Friday 8 March 2024.

The statutory timeframe for processing a request is 30 days from the date upon which your
application was received by the office of the Minister for Immigation, Citizenship and
Multicultural Affairs. The current due date for your request is 16 March 2024.

Duplicate documents
If the FOI decision-maker deems a document to be a duplicate, they will not assess those
pages as part of your FOI request. This means that if a there is a decision to release the
document to you, you wil receive only one copy, even if multiple copies of that document
exists.
Publication of document
Where documents are released to you in response to your request, the office of the Minister
for Immigation, Citizenship and Multicultural Affairs may be required to publish these
documents within 10 working days in accordance with section 11C of the FOI Act.
Publication wil not be required where the documents contain personal or business affairs
information.
