Issue arising from asynchronous prescribing 
Executive summary 
InstantScripts has published information on their website that patients can access asynchronous

prescribing after having one telehealth consultation with one of their doctors. This paper proposes that 
the Board write to InstantScripts to confirm that the proposed approach is not consistent with the 
Board’s Telehealth Guidelines and may be putting practitioners at risk of regulatory action.

September 2023. It appears to be providing advice that patients can access asynchronous
prescriptions with InstantScripts after a single telehealth consultation with one of their medical
practitioners
3. confirm that the advice from InstantScripts is not consistent with the Board’s Guidelines
4. provide feedback and approve the correspondence at Attachment B, noting that the Board
regulates individual practitioners rather than InstantScripts
5. consider whether to ask Ahpra to look at whether the advertising of InstantScripts is consistent
with the provisions of the National Law and Board guidelines.
