Dear Mr Tannahill
Decision on your freedom of information request I refer to your request to the eSafety Commissioner for access to documents under the
Freedom of Information Act 1982 (Cth) (FOI Act). On 25 July 2025, you requested the
following documents for the period 1 May 2025 to 24 July 2025:
documents relating to the selection of members for the Age Assurance Stakeholder
Advisory Board, chaired by Professor Jon Rouse APM
Decision I am authorised under section 23 of the FOI Act to make decisions under that Act. I have
decided to refuse your request for access to documents under section 24A of the FOI Act on
the basis that there are no documents that fall within the scope of your request.
I have been informed that eSafety did not have a role in the selection of members for the
Age Assurance Stakeholder Advisory Board. I have been informed the selection of members
was arranged by the Age Check Certification Scheme (ACCS) in fulfilling their contract for the
Australian Government’s Age Assurance Technology Trial, which was managed by the
Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the
Arts.
Searches for documents
The FOI Act requires that all reasonable steps must be taken to find documents relevant to
an FOI request.
Searches for documents were undertaken by various personnel from eSafety’s Industry,
Compliance and Enforcement Branch and the eSafety Commissioner’s office across internal
eSafety systems including Microsoft SharePoint and Outlook.
Accordingly, I am satisfied that all reasonable steps were taken to find documents relevant
to your request.
If you have any questions regarding this decision, please contact me at xxx@xxxxxxx.xxx.xx. A
statement of your rights of review is attached.
Yours faithfully
