Freedom of Information (FOI) Request - 2025/06
I refer to your email dated 18 October 2025 seeking access to documents and information held
by the Workplace Gender Equality Agency (the Agency/WGEA) under the
Freedom of
Information Act 1982 (FOI Act).
You have requested access to the following:
I am making a request for information under the Freedom of Information Act.
I am seeking any documents about voluntary data fields that refer to cultural and linguistic
diversity, cultural diversity or similar terms.
My decision and reasons for my decision
I am an officer authorised under subsection 23(1) of the FOI Act to make decisions in relation to
FOI requests. This letter sets out the reasons for my decision.
I have identified 1 document directly within the scope of your request.
Document 1 – Reporting Questionnaire - Word version 2022-23
After considering the relevant identified documentation I have decided to release Document 1 in
full. References to the voluntary collection of data on cultural and linguistic diversity have been
highlighted.
Please note that Document 1 is the Gender Equality Reporting Questionnaire from the 2022-23
reporting period. While the voluntary questions in the ‘Governing bodies – Diversity & Inclusion’
section, and the ‘Voluntary section - Diversity and Inclusion’ were collected in the 2023-24
reporting period, Document 1 is no longer valid or in use. These sections were not included in
the 2024–25 Reporting Questionnaire.
In making my decision, I have had regard to the following:
• the terms of your FOI request
• the content of the documents that fall within the scope of your request
• the relevant provisions of the FOI Act,
• the FOI Guidelines by the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC
Guidelines)
