Subject: Campion College investigation- Stephen McInerney, Stephen Chavura face scrutiny over alleged white
nationalism views

Jen, I had a brief chat with Mary about this article. There is also social media coverage
here:  https://www.facebook.com/CanberraDeclaration/posts/academic-freedom-in-australia-is-
under-attacktwo-respected-campion-college-acade/1232014172303352/

It seems McInerney, Dean of Studies, gave a speech that is quoted as supporting the White Australia
Policy. Social media posts are also quoted. Both staff members are also reported to have spoken at a
conference on these topics.

SMH appears to have followed up with the College President who is quoted as saying ‘they will be
thoroughly investigated’.

Happy to leave this with you and the team but wanted to ensure you were aware of the reports, given
the potential link to the standards.

Best wishes
Kerri-Lee
