FREEDOM OF INFORMATION REQUEST
Your letter of request seeking access to documents under the provisions of the
Freedom of
Information Act 1982 (the Act), was received by Victoria Police on 22 April 2022.
At the outset, I should explain that the role of the Freedom of Information Officer for Victoria Police is
to receive and process requests made under the Act on behalf of the Chief Commissioner and to
provide responses to those requests in terms of the provision of documents. This does not extend to
the provision of information or the answering of questions
I advise that the Victoria Police Manual is available for purchase from the Corporate Strategy and
Performance Department within the Victoria Police Centre. The contact address is 311 Spencer
Street, Docklands, 3008. The VPM is also available for inspection at the Supreme Court Library and
the State Law Library, Melbourne.
Fee required
Your attention is drawn to section 17(2A) of the Act which requires that a request must be
accompanied by a fee of $30.10.
My office does not have the EFT facilities to process payments. Please either send a cheque/money
order to my office via post or visit
https://ovic.vic.gov.au/freedom-of-information/for-the-public/make-
your-request-online/ to make payment of the application fee. If payment is made via the above online
portal, please simply record the FOI file number in the summary field.
Photo ID required
Before any further action is taken, I require documentary proof of your identity e.g. a copy of your
driver's licence, passport and/or other document with your photo and current residential address. On
receipt of your proof of photo ID, your request wil be considered in accordance with the provisions of
the Act.

Under section 17(4) of the Act, an applicant must be given a reasonable opportunity of consultation in
order to make the request in a form that would comply with section 17(2) of the Act.
Accordingly, a copy of your photo ID, payment of the application fee, and a response clarifying your
request is required within 28 days of receiving this letter. If I have not received your reply before
24
May 2022, I wil consider that documents are no longer required, and your request wil be finalised.
