Dear Me
Acknowledgement of your request for Internal Review of a Freedom of Information Decision
I refer to your request for internal review of the Freedom of Information (FOI) decision made by an
authorised decision maker of Services Australia (the Agency) dated 17 March 2023.
You request review on the basis that information about who is sending and receiving the relevant
email is relevant and necessary context to the information in the body of the emails. Specifically:
1. You seek review of the decision to redact any/all information in the ‘from’, ‘to’, and ‘bcc’ fields
of all released emails, excluding information redacted on the basis of s 22 of the
Freedom of
Information Act 1982 (
FOI Act).
2. To the extent information is redacted under s 47E(d) of the FOI Act, there is no requirement
for redaction of the email domain (e.g., ‘@servicesaustralia.gov.au’ or similar), as this wil not
reveal the positional mailbox and you consider there is no lawful basis to redact the
information.
3. To the extent information is redacted under s 47F(1), where redactions are made under this
section and concern the names of Senior Executive Service staff, this information must be
released. In the case of Executive Level staff names, at a minimum first names should be
disclosed.
Decision on internal review
Your request was received by the Agency on 17 April 2023. The Agency has 30 days from the day
after that date to process your request. You should therefore expect a decision from us by
18 May 2023.
In accordance with s 54C of the
Freedom of Information Act 1982 (FOI Act) a person (other than the
person who made the original decision) wil be the decision maker for this internal review.
Your Address
The FOI Act requires you provide us with an address which we can send notices to. You have advised
your electronic address is xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx@xxxxxxxxxxx.xxx.xx. We wil send all notices
and correspondence to this address. Please advise us as soon as possible if you wish
correspondence to be sent to another address or if your address changes. If you do not advise us of
changes to your address, correspondence and notices wil continue to be sent to the address specified
above.

Disclosure Log
Please note information released under the FOI Act may be published in a disclosure log on the
Agency's website. Section 11C of the FOI Act requires this publication, however it is subject to certain
exceptions, including where publication of personal, business, professional or commercial information
would be unreasonable.
Exclusion of junior staff details
The Agency is working towards ensuring all staf have a choice about whether they provide their full
name, personal logon identifiers and direct contact details in response to public enquiries. Where
such details are included in the scope of a request, this may add to processing time and applicable
charges as it may be necessary to consider whether the details are exempt under the FOI Act. On
this basis, unless you tell us otherwise, we wil assume these details are out of scope of your request
and they wil be redacted under section 22 of the FOI Act.
Further assistance
If you have any questions please ema
