Good afternoon
Thank you for your request, which was received by the Attorney-General’s Department (the department) Freedom of Information (FOI) team on 12 May 2025.
Your request is for a document that is over 20 years old. After 20 years, documents enter the ‘open access’ period under the Archives Act 1983 (Archives Act) and are transferred to and administered by the National Archives. These documents are primarily exempt from the FOI process under s 12(1)(a) of the Freedom of Information Act 1982 and access to such documents is subsequently facilitated through the Archives Act.
More information about how to access information via the Archives and FOI Acts can be found on the National Archives website here: https://www.naa.gov.au/about-us/our-orga...
We suggest contacting the National Archives as the next step in your search and kindly invite you to withdraw your FOI request to the department.
Kind regards
