Transport FOI Requests (DOT), VIC Department of Transport

Hi Mudassar,

Using the Freedom of Information Act 1982 (Vic) (the FOI Act) to access CCTV footage may not be very helpful to you.

Under section 33(1) of the Freedom of Information Act 1982 (Vic), the Department is unable to release images of third-party individuals who may be captured on CCTV footage. In your case, we cannot provide you with the CCTV video capturing the identity of any third person who assaulted you. These images will need to be blurred / pixelated prior to release of any footage to you under the FOI Act.

Victoria Police can request footage directly from the department without these limitations. Any footage provided to them if it exists will be the full unedited version.

However, if you wish to make a valid FOI request to the Department of Transport and Planning, please see the information below:

The Freedom of Information Act 1982 requires all applicants to pay an application fee of $30.60. Payment can be made online via https://online.foi.vic.gov.au/foi/reques... and selecting “Department of Transport” as the agency.
