Dear Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade,

I make this request under the FOI Act 1982.

For the period between 7 October 2024 and 7 October 2025, I request a copy of all correspondence between the Australian Human Rights Commission and DFAT in relation to

1) the lack of primacy of the Racial Discrimination Act over other legislation;

2) disaggregated statistics and detailed information on the number and types of complaints about racial discrimination reported to the penal, civil and administrative bodies and to the police, and their outcomes, including convictions or disciplinary measures handed down and compensation to victims;

3) detailed, updated information and statistics on recent training conducted among law enforcement officers, judges, lawyers and State officials specifically on the prevention of racial discrimination and on the rights enshrined in the Convention, and on the impact of such training on the situation of indigenous peoples and ethnic minorities (art. 7).
