Ed Bracks made this Freedom of Information request to Commonwealth Grants Commission

This request has been closed to new correspondence from the public body. Contact us if you think it ought be re-opened.

Response to this request is long overdue. By law, under all circumstances, Commonwealth Grants Commission should have responded by now (details). You can complain by requesting an internal review.

Dear Commonwealth Grants Commission,

I would like to see a copy of the Grant Application for Concord Golf Club made through
John Sidote for a Grant of $40,000 that has just been allocated, through the Drummoyne electorate. This request is directed to you through the F.O.I.

Yours faithfully,

Ed Bracks ( member of CGC )

Phil Parkins, Commonwealth Grants Commission

Dear Mr Bracks

The Commonwealth Grants Commission role is to recommend how the revenues raised from the Goods and Services Tax (GST) should be distributed to the States and Territories to achieve horizontal fiscal equalisation (HFE). It does not have any role in the receipt or approval of grants to the general public or organisations.

Our website at https://www.cgc.gov.au explains this.

Accordingly the Commonwealth Grants Commission cannot assist you with your request.

Yours faithfully

If the NSW Government made the grant, you should be able to request it from Sport and Recreation NSW: https://www.righttoknow.org.au/body/spor... (assuming they gave the grant).

Dear Mr Bracks

I note that the website which tracks your FOI request shows the status of that request as “Awaiting Response”. This is incorrect as a response has clearly been sent on two occasions.

Perhaps I can further clarify the situation.

The Commonwealth Grants Commission has not received and does not hold any correspondence regarding a community grant to the Concord Golf Club, or any other community grant to any organisation.

The Commonwealth Grants Commission simply is not involved in any way with grants to the public or to any organisation. It exists to recommend to the Commonwealth Government how the revenues raised from the Goods and Services Tax (GST) should be distributed to the States and Territories to achieve horizontal fiscal equalisation (HFE).

The Commonwealth Grants Commission cannot help you in any way. It would be appreciated if you would withdraw your FOI request, or at least acknowledge that it has been sent to the wrong agency.

Yours Faithfully

Phil Parkins
