Jarred Synnott, Australian Bureau of Statistics

Dear Mr Degan

I am emailing in regards to your FOI request received by the Australian
Bureau of Statistics (ABS) on 11 November 2017. The document search and
retrieval was completed prior to the ABS Christmas shutdown (22 December
2017 to 2 January 2018), and since commencing it's normal operations
further documents have been located that may be in scope of your request.

Assessing these new documents in line with the FOI Act will take time as
third parties will need to be consulted, and a such I am asking whether
you would consider:

o agreeing to an extension of 14 days under section 15AA of the Freedom
of Information Act 1982 (FOI Act) to the required processing period in
order to respond to your request.

Under section 15AA of the FOI Act, an extension can only be granted if
you, the applicant, agree in writing to this proposal. If you agree to
this request, the ABS will be required to respond to your request no later
than 24 January 2018. If you agree to an extension the ABS will likely be
able to respond to your request prior to this date.

Can you please consider this request and respond as a matter of urgency.
If we do not hear from you by midday Wednesday 10 January 2018, the ABS
will likely be unable to respond within the standard timeframe.

Kind Regards,

FOI Contact Officer
