Decision to delete a high level Aboriginal identified position

Response to this request is long overdue. By law, under all circumstances, Kakadu Board of Management should have responded by now (details). You can complain by requesting an internal review.

Dear Kakadu Board of Management,
I’m requesting the detailed information as to why the Kakadu Board of management felt it was important to delete an executive level Aboriginal identified position from the staffing structure, being the Park Manager-Cultural Engagement.
This appears to be of detriment to local Aboriginal Traditional Owners that is in contravention to the EPBC Act.
I request detailed information as to how this decision will be of benefit to the Traditional Owners of Kakadu National Park.
I also request information as why this decision was not made prior to the recruitment processes undertaken for the dual park manager roles, that being the:
Park Manager-Cultural Engagement and;
Park Manager-Operations.
Historically these positions were one position. There should have been an opportunity for all candidates to be selected to the final position. Instead the Aboriginal specified position was deleted.
This presents an inequality in the process as these two positions now form one.
This now presents a situation of pure racism towards the Aboriginal identified position in selection of the non-Aboriginal person to the position of park manager.
I request detailed information from the Kakadu Board as to why they deleted an Aboriginal specific position of an executive level and how this contributes effective ongoing management of Kakadu National Park.

Yours faithfully,
Trissie Bell
