Dear CB

Acknowledgement of receipt of FOI Request: FOI23/552 - Attorney-General’s
Department and Request for Extension of Time

On 26 October 2023 you made a request for access to documents under the
Freedom of Information Act 1982 (the FOI Act) to the Attorney-General’s
Department (the department).

Your request is for:

For months of 1 January 2023 to 30 May 2023 I request the release of all
decisions of parole made by the Attorney-General and his delegate.

For the ease of the Department's time I am explicitly looking for:

*The number of decisions made by the Attorney-General, or his delegate;

*was the decision granting of parole in line with the recommendation on
the Submission for parole;

* The offences that led to a Commonwealth non-parole;

* how many of the parole applications included convictions related to s
474.25A, s.474.19(1), s.474.26(1), s.474.27A(1) of the Criminal Code;

* How many of the parole applications included convictions related to s

Extension of Time Request

Under section 15AA of the FOI Act, an agency may extend the initial
processing period for dealing with a request by a further period of no
more than 30 days if the applicant agrees in writing to the extension, and
the agency gives written notice of the extension to the Information
Commissioner as soon as practicable after the agreement is made.

I would like to request your agreement to extend the processing period for
your request by 30 days. I am requesting this extension of time from you
to ensure the department has sufficient time to process and finalise your
request in accordance with the FOI Act. There has been a delay in
processing your request as a result of staff illness (my own) and actions
that would usually have occurred to allow a timely decision to be made
concerning your request have not been taken.

If you agree to the requested extension, please let me know in writing at
your earliest convenience.

The department received your request on 26 October 2023, and the 30 day
statutory period for processing your request is currently 27 November
2023.

If you agree to the requested extension, the new due date will be 27
December 2023. However, the department will make every effort to provide a
decision to you as soon as possible.

Please note that if you agree to the extension, the department is required
to notify the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner, including
your name and contact details.

If you have any questions, please contact me by telephone on (02) 6141
6666 or by email to [1][AGD request email].

Yours faithfully,

Philip

Dear FOI Requests,

I agree to the extension of time request.

To assist, I will clarify that I am not looking for individual names, or their decision brief itself - just the information above, if that assists in narrowing the list of documents.

Yours sincerely,
