Dear Australian Energy Regulator,

The Basslink electricity interconnector is an approximately 370 km high-voltage direct current (HVDC) cable linking the electricity grid of Tasmania to the National Energy Grid. It is the second longest submarine power cable in the world.

I request the following Government Information:

a) Documents relating to any assessments, investigations, test results or information regarding the current operational condition of Basslink cable, including any insulation resistance test results undertaken between 1 December 2016 to 1 December 2018; and

b) Documents relating to any assessments, investigations or information regarding estimates of the remaining service life of the Basslink cable.

If this can be answered as informal request, please do so.

Otherwise, please proceed with this as a formal request under the Freedom of Information principles & framework, i.e. the Freedom of Information Act 1982 & other associated guidelines and regulations.
