Dear Department of Industry, Innovation and Science FoI officers,

I am writing to request electronic copies of minutes of all meetings of the Maralinga Rehabilitation Technical Advisory Committee. This committee was established in the 1990s and I presume it ceased to exist in the 2000s following the publication of this report in 2003: https://industry.gov.au/resource/Documen...

I am making this request under the Freedom of Information Act 1982.

Yours sincerely,

Dan Monceaux

Dear Mr Monceaux

I refer to your FOI request of 4 March 2017, in which you sought access to electronic copies of minutes of all meetings of the Maralinga Rehabilitation Technical Advisory Committee (MARTEC Committee).

The department has conducted extensive searches for documents within the scope of your request.

The documents identified as in the department’s possession are those which were included as an appendix on the accompanying CD-ROM to the Rehabilitation of Former Nuclear Test Sites at Emu and Maralinga (Australia) – a report by the Maralinga Rehabilitation Technical Advisory Committee (MARTAC Report). The CD-ROM was attached to the back of the MARTAC Report. It is a publicly available document, and as such the department is happy to provide you with administrative access to the document outside the FOI Act. Please find the documents attached.

We note that there has been a number of Machinery of Government changes since the MARTEC was established. For this reason, further records may be held with the Department of Education and Training and the National Archives of Australia.

We trust the above information and attached documentation satisfies your request, and will consider your FOI request as withdrawn unless we hear from you in the alternative by Thursday 30 March 2017.

Should you have any queries in relation to this matter please contact the FOI team.
