Number of contributing members affected by incorrect 2015-16 Maximum Benefit Limit thresholds

Gerard Gough made this Freedom of Information request to Commonwealth Superannuation Corporation

This request has been closed to new correspondence from the public body. Contact us if you think it ought be re-opened.

The request was partially successful.

Dear Commonwealth Superannuation Corporation,

The 2015-16 Pension Maximum Benefit Fact Sheet published on the Military Superannuation website and used to calculate PMBMC figures for contibuting members of the MSBS when they reached their Pension Maximum Benefit Limit contained incorrect threshold amounts.

The use of the incorrect MBL threshold figures has resulted in a number of members making additional personal mandatory contributions to their MSBS member benefit as well as receiving employer contributions in excess of when they would have normally stopped receiving employer contributions, had the correct MBL threshold amounts been used to calculate the PMBMC.

How many MSBS members received additional employer contributions as a result of the use of incorrect MBL threshold amounts?

What was the total amount of employer contributions made by Defence to contributing members of the MSBS as a result of incorrect MBL threshold amounts?

Yours faithfully,
Gerard Gough.
