Dear Mr Cole
Thank you for your email and please accept our sincere apologies for the delay in issuing you with a decision.
Your request has been processed and we are awaiting final clearance of the decision as part of our internal processes. A recent surge in workload for the Department has led to delays for those final clearance processes.
Despite our ongoing efforts, it is unlikely that we will be in a position to issue you with a decision today (22 December 2025).
As a result, we intend to apply to the Office of the Information Commissioner (OAIC) for an extension of time under section 15AC of the Freedom of Information Act 1982.
If granted, this extension would allow additional time to finalise the decision and your rights to seek review of the decision will be fully preserved. We will notify you of the outcome of the OAIC's consideration as soon as it is known.
We aim to provide you with a formal decision as soon as possible.
Kind regards
