Dear Mr Hirsch

Please find attached the acknowledgement of receipt for your recent FOI
Request.

Request for an extension of time

Please be aware that the Department has seen a significant increase in the
number of FOI requests received by this agency. As a result there are
expected delays involved with the processing of FOI requests at the
present time. Generally, requests will be processed in the order that they
are received. The Department will endeavour to finalise your request as
quickly as possible.

For this reason the Department seeks your agreement under s.15AA of the
FOI Act to extend the timeframe for the processing of your request by 30
days.

It would assist the Department in managing its FOI caseload if you could
provide a response to this request by close of business, Tuesday, 14 March
2017.

Please do not hesitate to contact me should you wish to discuss.

Yours sincerely

Dear FOI,

Thank you for this information.

However, I have one clarification on the request.

I requested statistics on "How many [refugee and humanitarian entrants] have been selected based on community proposals in Australia". Your response was to provide statistics relating to the community proposal pilot.

However, my request was broader than the community proposal pilot, and also included other applications where a person was proposed by a person in Australia, for example, through the use of a proposal form (form 681). This would often be the 202 visa, but I would also like to know how many people have been granted other visas in the Refugee and Humanitarian Program based on a proposer in Australia.

As such, could you please provide me with the following statistics:

"How many refugee and humanitarian entrants who have been resettled in Australia through the offshore Refugee and Humanitarian Program have been proposed by a person in Australia, for example, through the use of the proposal form 681. Please provide a breakdown by financial year and by visa subclass, for the financial years 2011/12 to 2015/16, as well as up to 7 March 2017."

Yours sincerely,

Asher Hirsch
