Policy of assisting lodgements

Currently waiting for a response from Australian Human Rights Commission, they should respond promptly and normally no later than (details).

Dear Australian Human Rights Commission,

We are using the FOI Act 1982 to make this application.

Under the FOI Act, the FOI officer is statutory obligated to assist applicants in cases where the applicant has not met the requirements of the FOI Act. The FOI Act also states that the foi officer and guide the applicant to the government body where they may be much more likely to find information.

There is no similar requirement under the Race Discrimination Act, Sex Discrimination Act, Disability Discrimination Act or Ageism Act.

I seek documents about any policy or practice whereby the Australian Human Rights Commission "assists" applicants to file valid lodgements, if any such policy exists. I would accept a refused request on grounds that no such document exists upon confirmation from senior officials at the Commission.

Yours faithfully,
