Structure of Land Combat College / Forces Command, 2025

I am making an OIA request to obtain the structure of units within Forces Command and Land Combat College, and how they both report under the Chief of Army.

I refer to your below inquiry received by the Department of Defence (Defence) on 15 September 2025.
Unfortunately, in its current form your request is not considered valid under section 15(2) of the Freedom of Information Act 1982 (FOI Act). Section 15(2) of the FOI Act provides that:
(2) The request must:
(a) be in writing; and
(aa) state that the request is an application for the purposes of this Act; and
(b) provide such information concerning the document as is reasonably necessary to enable a responsible officer of the agency, or the Minister, to identify it; and
(c) give details of how notices under this Act may be sent to the applicant (for example, by providing an electronic address to which notices may be sent by electronic communication).
As per section 15(2)(aa), you have not stated that your request is an application for the purposes of the FOI Act, nor have you provided such information concerning the document/s as is reasonably necessary to enable a responsible officer of the agency to identify it in accordance with section 15(2)(b). The FOI Act enables a person to request access to existing documents held by an agency, and does not include providing information or answering questions in relation to particular subject.
Your inquiry will now be closed and not dealt with any further. It is open to you to submit a valid request by emailing [Defence request email] that meets the requirements outlined above.

holiday, the timeframe will expire on the next working day. This is in
accordance with the FOI Guidelines issued by the Office of the Australian
Information Commissioner under section 93A of the FOI Act.
