Queensland Mental Health Review Tribunal

A Queensland authority

The Act provides for the involuntary assessment and treatment of persons with mental illnesses, while at the same time safeguarding their rights. The purpose of the Tribunal is principally to review involuntary detention and/or treatment of persons with mental illnesses, along with certain other functions. It is outside the jurisdiction of the Tribunal to review the involuntary detention and/ or treatment of persons with mental illnesses who have committed or allegedly committed an offence against the Commonwealth, and who have been found to be of unsound mind or unfit for trial by a Federal court.
