I request access under the Freedom of Information Act (1982) to radiation monitoring documents from the former Australian Radiation Laboratory (ARL) building at the University of Melbourne during the period 1978-1982. The Australian Radiation Laboratory moved to the current ARPANSA building in Yallambie in 1979. At some point during the period 1978-1982, radiation monitoring of the former building (Melbourne University building 164) was undertaken by the ARL. I request access to summary documents or reports from the monitoring of the building during this period. I also request access to summary documents or reports of monitoring of the building during this period undertaken by the University of Melbourne and provided to the ARL/ARPANSA.

I refer to your request made under the Freedom of Information Act 1982 for the following documents:

Radiation monitoring documents from the former Australian Radiation Laboratory (ARL) building at the University of Melbourne during the period 1978-1982. The Australian Radiation Laboratory moved to the current ARPANSA building in Yallambie in 1979. At some point during the period 1978-1982, radiation monitoring of the former building (Melbourne University building 164) was undertaken by the ARL. I request access to summary documents or reports from the monitoring of the building during this period. I also request access to summary documents or reports of monitoring of the building during this period undertaken by the University of Melbourne and provided to the ARL/ARPANSA.

Scope

I understand the scope to be limited to the following:

1. Summary documents or reports of monitoring at the Australian Radiation Laboratory at the University of Melbourne between 1 January 1978 and 31 December 1982.

Timeframes

ARPANSA received your request on 9 September 2019 and the 30 day statutory period for processing your request commenced from the day after that date.

Since the material requested includes third party information the 30 day statutory period for processing your request time is extended for 30 days so third parties can be consulted. You should therefore expect a decision by 8 November 2019.
