Dear Trevor
The processing period for your FOI request seeking, ‘the entirety of the
Flight Manual for the RAAF PC-9 aircraft as well as the cover page only
for the AP-3C aircraft’ has been impacted by reduced staffing capacity
caused by the public holidays across the Easter Long Weekend, ANZAC Day,
and school holiday period.
For this reason we are seeking your written agreement to a short 7 day
extension of the statutory deadline under section 15AA [extension with
agreement] of the FOI Act. This additional time will support Defence to
provide you with a considered outcome in relation to your request.
Should you agree, the statutory deadline for you to receive a response to
your request will be 15 May 2025.
It would be much appreciated if you could confirm your agreement to this
extension of time by return email by 12pm Wednesday 23 April 2025.
Should you have any questions regarding this matter please do not hesitate
to email the FOI team at [1][email address]

Dear Trevor
I refer to your recent Freedom of Information request (FOI 875/24/25) for
access to, ‘the entirety of the Flight Manual for the RAAF PC-9 aircraft
as well as the cover page only for the AP-3C aircraft’.
I am writing to advise that a large volume of potentially relevant
documentation has been identified as falling within the scope of your
request.
It is our initial assessment that a practical refusal reason is likely to
apply to your request, in accordance with section 24 [power to refuse
request – diversion of resources etc.] of the Freedom of Information Act
1982 (FOI Act).
Accordingly, we invite you to consider revising the scope to better enable
your request to be processed. For example, you could choose to seek only
the cover pages of flight manuals.
It would be appreciated if you could provide a response by return email no
later than close of business Friday 9 May 2025.
Kind regards
