CDDA claims 2020-2021

Alan ASHMORE made this Freedom of Information request to Department of Veterans' Affairs

This request has been closed to new correspondence from the public body. Contact us if you think it ought be re-opened.

The request was successful.

Dear Department of Veterans' Affairs,

I request the following data for 2020/2021, namely:

: The number of CDDA claims lodged,
: The number of CDDA claims accepted, and
: The total value of the amount paid out.

Yours faithfully,

Alan ASHMORE

Dear Department of Veterans' Affairs,
I have not received a response to this FOI request, due on 29 November 2021.

I understand there has been an increased demand for FOI’s as veterans seek their files as a first step to preparing their submission to the Royal Commission.

I also understand DVA has been given additional financial resources to compensate for the increased workload the Royal Commission places/will place on the Department.

Previously DVA published the requested information in their Annual Report but now fail to do so. It is for this reason alone I am seeking this information that would not have resulted in this FOI had DVA not omitted this information from their Annual Report.

I ask that you now expedite this request as the 30 days to respond expired one week ago.

Thanks in advance.

Yours faithfully,

Alan ASHMORE

Dear INFORMATION.LAW,

Hi Erin, Further to our phone call it would appear there is some confusion. The information you released to me today via righttoknow was suppose to be regarding an FOI pertaining to CDDA claims for 20/21. What you attached to that FOI was information I have already received to a previous FOI request (High Impact Error Rate for last quarter of 20/21). I am still to receive the information requested re CDDA.

I have still not received anyting on regarding an FOI lodged on 28/10 regarding Acts of Grace Payments details for 20/21.

Apologies for not responding earlier today but have been out most of the day. Thanks for resending the link to a previously released FOI.

Please phone me again if you need to.

Yours sincerely,

Alan ASHMORE

Why is Veterans' Affairs sending DVA Secure Emails to Right to Know, which is for FOIs not involving personal information.

This FOI made no request for personal information, and Veterans' Affairs would be well aware DVA Secure Email is inappropriate for sending FOI acknowledgments and other routine notices.

Yet this is not the first instance I've seen on Right to Know where Veterans' Affairs have sent DVA Secure Emails in response to FOIs it doesn't particularly like.
