I refer to your email attached dated 15 August 2025 seeking access to “all
information relating to any complaints about the operation of Sunshine
Coast Support Services, of 1103 Louis Bazzo Dr Cootharaba 4565 and of 58
Eucalypt Way, Cootharaba 4565”.

 

I advise that the type of information you are seeking (complaint
information) can only be provided through channels prescribed by the Right
to Information Act 2009 (“the Act”). Advice on how to apply for the
release of information under the Act can be found on the Noosa Council
Website (Click [1]here for information). For ease of use, I have also
attached a copy of the RTI application form to this email.

 

We note that whilst a member of the public has the right to seek access to
documents in the possession or control of Council under the Act, access to
information can be refused on a number of grounds including if it is
exempt or it would be contrary to the public interest to release.
Information that contains personal information of people other than the
applicant is generally considered contrary to the public interest to
disclose and is unlikely to be released. This includes any information
that would allow an applicant to work out the identity of someone who made
a complaint. In addition, if information is classed as confidential it is
usually exempt from release. You will likely get access to documents that
contain only your personal information and to procedural documents. Please
see attached Information Sheet from the Office of the Information
Commissioner entitled “Applying for Complaint Documents” in this regard.  

 

I also note that there is a fee of $57.65 for making a RTI application and
there may also be associated processing costs. There is also a minimum 25
business day processing time in accordance with the Act.
