Correspondance and notes relating to decision to not investigate dual citizenship of Tony Abbott

Ben Smith made this Freedom of Information request to Attorney-General's Department

This request has been closed to new correspondence from the public body. Contact us if you think it ought be re-opened.

Attorney-General's Department did not have the information requested.

Dear Attorney-General's Department,

As it is common knowledge that the balance of the public record would lead a reasonable person to deduce that Tony Abbott is a dual British/Australian citizen and it is left to the AGD to investigate illegal registrations for election candidacy in the Federal Parliament, I request any and all documents, diary entries, internal memos, external memos, correspondance and minutes of meetings or any other documents which mention this matter or lead to the AG's decision to not investigate.

Yours faithfully,

Ben Smith

I refer to your request under the Freedom of Information Act 1982 (FOI

have taken your request to be for:

“any and all documents, diary entries, internal memos, external memos,
correspondence and minutes of meetings or any other documents which
mention or lead to the AG's decision to not investigate this matter –
being Tony Abbott’s dual citizenship, and any illegal registration by him,
for election candidacy in the Federal Parliament”

If you disagree with this interpretation of your request, please let me
know as soon as possible.

We received your request on 13 January 2016 and the 30 day statutory

you would like us to consider releasing that information as part of the
documents you have requested.

Please note that information released under the FOI Act may later be
published online on our disclosure log
