OFFICIAL
Good morning
Thank you for contacting the Queensland Police Service, Right to
Information and Subpoena Unit. I refer to your email below, regarding
access to documents held by the Queensland Police Service.
Should you wish to make an application for documents, you will need to
complete the attached access application form. Alternatively, you can also
apply online at- [1]http://www.rti.qld.gov.au/. Or respond to this email
confirming you wish to proceed with your application under the Right To
Information Act 2009.
You will also need to provide a certified copy of your identification.
This identification document can be a photocopy of a driver licence,
passport or a birth certificate. Please ensure that the photocopy has been
certified by either a Justice of the Peace, Commissioner for Declarations
or a Solicitor. The identification must be certified within the past 12
months.
If the documents you seek access to contain your personal information
only, there is no charge associated with your request. If you seek access
to documents which do not concern your personal information or contain
another individual/s personal information, your request will be processed
pursuant to the Right to Information Act 2009 and therefore payment of the
application fee ($57.65) is required. An electronic payment link can be
issued once the application has been allocated to a case manager.
Your completed application form and certified identification document
should then be sent directly to this Unit either by post to:

Under the Right to Information Act 2009 (RTI Act), the processing period
of an application is 25 business days. The processing period starts the
following business day after an application complies with all of the
requirements, making it a valid application. An application’s processing
period may be extended by an additional 10 business days if consultation
is undertaken with a third party to seek their views on the release of
information under an access application. There are other times where
additional time may be applied to the timeframe to finalise an
application. If this applies to your application, this Unit will contact
you.
Should you have any further enquiries concerning the application process,
please do not hesitate to contact this Unit on (07) 3364 4666 or in
writing to [3][Queensland Police Service request email] .
