Cyber Security Incidents/Cybercrimes/Data Breaches incurred Businesses

Steven Roddis made this Freedom of Information request to Australian Securities and Investments Commission

This request has been closed to new correspondence from the public body. Contact us if you think it ought be re-opened.

Dear Australian Securities and Investments Commission,

I'd like to request documents relating to:

Cyber Security Incidents/Cybercrimes/Data Breaches incurred by companies and financial services reported to or discovered by ASIC during the period:
1st Nov 2015-1st Nov 2020

The terms "Cyber Security Incidents/Cybercrimes/Data Breaches" for this request as an act that would fall under 10.7 and 10.8 of the Criminal Code Act 1995 and include:
* Computer intrusions
* Unauthorised modification of data, including destruction of data
* Unauthorised impairment of electronic communications, including denial of service attacks

This request excludes documents relating to Cyber Security Incidents incurred by ASIC itself and focus on 3rd parties only.

For example:
A ransomware on a marketing website may not affect customer data but would fall under this request.
A denial of service attempt on ASIC's website would not fall under this request as ASIC was the target.

Yours faithfully,

Steven Roddis
