The request was successful.

Dear Department of Immigration and Border Protection,

Can I please have a copy of the FOI Delegations issued by the Secretary of the department, and any related directions issued by the secretary?

I believe this information could be considered "operational information" so I therefore request release under the IPS, or under Administrative Access.

Yours faithfully,

Ben Fairless

Dear Beth,

Thanks for coming back to me. When I requested the same document from DHS (https://www.righttoknow.org.au/request/d...) there was an additional document referred to as a "Secretary Management Directions" which allowed the FOI Delegations to make sense. If this doesn't apply to DIBP them disregard :-)

Kind Regards,

Ben Fairless

Dear Mr Fairless

My apologies for not responding sooner to your e-mail below.

The department is finalising a suite of Instruments as a consequence of the departments restructure, including the Instrument of Authorisation for FOI officers. It is my intention to provide you with a copy outside of the FOI Act. I am hoping to do so by the end of this week.

With regards to your request for any related directions issued by the Secretary, noting your clarification, I can confirm that no such document exists.

In light of the above, I invite you to consider withdrawing your FOI request once I've been able to provide you with the Instrument of Authorisation.

Yours sincerely,
Beth Morrison

Dear Beth,

Thanks for getting back to me, I understnd restructures can be difficult.

I'm not fussed about how I obtain access. If you would prefer to provide it outside of FOI you can assume I never made a formal FOI request (I asked in my original email for the request to be treated under the IPS or administrative access)

Thanks,

Ben Fairless
