Dear FOI,

The link you provided doesn't work. I think it's a link to your intranet, which can't be accessed by the public. So it probably only works on immigration computers.

Can you please provide the information in a format that can be read by the public.

Yours sincerely,

Jay Doe

Yes, you are correct. That’s an internal link to Home Affairs’ intranet. Quite surprising the Department employee did not immediately recognise that you would not be able to access that link, and chose to send that, instead of attaching document/s directly.

Refused. Non-payment of processing charge.

Note 1: Mostly I classify a response like this one to say "clarification requested" because the agency has told the applicant that some more information (or money!) is needed before the request will be processed. This time, the agency has sent a letter, after waiting 30 days, to say the request has been refused.

This does not mean that the agency will refuse the request when an application is made in the correct (required).

Note 2: Although an application under the Freedom of Information Act 1983 of the Commonwealth of Australia does not require an application fee, Commonwealth agencies might demand payment of a fee to cover extra processing costs. If the fee is not paid, the request will not be processed.
