Documents related to the projected cost of the National Careers Institute for the period 2019 - 2022

Richard Smith made this Freedom of Information request to Minister for Employment

This request has been closed to new correspondence from the public body. Contact us if you think it ought be re-opened.

The request was successful.

Dear Minister for Employment, Skills, Small and Family Business,

The National Careers Institute was established in July 2019. Despite operating for the last 28 months, as of today, 24th November 2021, the NCI lists only four announcements on it's website (https://www.dese.gov.au/announcements/nci).

There is 1 announcement in each of the months of October, November and December 2020 and then a hiatus of almost 12 months with the fourth and last announcement shown as October 2021.

At an average rate of one announcement every 7 months, this appears to be a very low rate of information being put out by the NCI, which appears to have the sole purpose of providing information to Australian's regarding developing their skills and career.

Accordingly, I hereby request the following Government Information documents which I consider to be of great public importance:

a) Documents detailing the total budgeted cost expected to be incurred by the Commonwealth for the National Careers Institute for year financial year period over the interval of 1 July 2019 to 30 June 2022;

b) Documents detailing the remuneration of members of the National Careers Institute Advisory Board; and

c) Documents detailing the decision making in regards to the Commonwealth's determination of the need for and the formulation of aims of the Institute in establishing the National Careers Institute.

If this can be answered as informal request, please do so.

Otherwise, please proceed with this as a formal request under the Freedom of Information principles & framework, i.e. the Freedom of Information Act 1982 & other associated guidelines and regulations.

Yours faithfully,

Richard Smith
