Dear Australian Transaction Reports and Analysis Centre,

This is a Freedom of Information Request for the purposes of the Freedom of Information Act 1982.

For Context, On 23 June 2025, AUSTRAC issued an instrument exempting the Minister for Economic Development Queensland Pty Ltd (ABN 76 590 288 697) from various provisions of the AML/CTF Act (https://www.austrac.gov.au/sites/default...)

I seek access to all correspondents AUSTRAC has had with officials of the Queensland Government, since 27 October 2024, relating to issuing an exmption for the MEDQ.

Please exclude duplicates and documents already publicly released,
including media releases, reports, articles and statements to the media.
Please limit emails to the final message in the chain as long as previous
messages are captured.
I agree to having the names and direct contact details of non-senior staff
removed, however I request that redactions do not include non-personally
identifying information. For example, please leave the domain and job
titles when redacting email addresses or signature blocks on emails.
I preemptively agree to requests for third party consultation if
necessary, but would prefer that my information about my identity is not
shared with those consulted.’

Yours faithfully,

Glenn Hamiltonshire

Good afternoon,

AUSTRAC seeks your agreement to extend the legislative processing time of
your Freedom of Information (FOI) request by 30 days.

Your request has progressed since it was received. AUSTRAC undertook the
steps of registering your request, acknowledging your request and we are
conducting searches for the documents requested. However, AUSTRAC are
experiencing an increased FOI workload and I’m hopeful you would be
agreeable to this extension of time request sought under s 15AA of the FOI
Act.

Granting us the extension of time will enable AUSTRAC to continue
progressing your request, ensuring your request is completed within the
allowable legislative time frame which would be extended to 29 September
2025 if you were to agree.

I look forward to your response confirming if you agree to this extension,
thank you for the understanding.

Regards,
