Dear Department of the Treasury,

Can you please provide the documents and emails from the three months prior to September 14 2015 relating to the customer surcharging component of recommendation 17 of the Murray Report into Australia's financial system and the additional decision to phase in a legislated ban on surcharges that exceed reasonable costs.

Can you please wave or reduce fees related to this request. The information is in the public interest as it will support public debate around the potential passage of legislation in this area.

Dear Mr Jackson Gothe-Snape

 

I refer to your email of 20 October 2015 in which you sought access to
documents under the Freedom of Information Act 1982 (the Act), in
particular:

“Can you please provide the documents and emails from the three months
prior to September 14 2015 relating to the customer surcharging component
of recommendation 17 of the Murray Report into Australia's financial
system and the additional decision to phase in a legislated ban on
surcharges that exceed reasonable costs.”

 

The 30-day statutory period for processing your request commenced from the
day after Treasury received your request on 20 October 2015.  Your request
is currently being attended to.

Charges may be payable in relation to time spent in searching for and
retrieving relevant documents, decision‑making time, photocopying and
postage.  You will be notified of any charges in relation to your request
or of a decision as soon as possible.
