Good morning Mr Phillips,

I refer to your request for access to documents relating to:

“Incident Detail Report 1-70Y396 from the Department's Compliance, Case
Management, Detention and Settlement Portal. I also request any documents
attached to the detailed report.”

The current due date for your request is Monday 5 August 2013. Due to the
number of requests currently being processed by our office, we may not be
able to finalise your request by the original due date.

DIAC seeks your agreement (under s.15AA of the FOI Act) to extend the
timeframe for the processing of your request by 30 days.  This would
extend the due date for your request to Wednesday 4 September 2013.

The processing delays experienced by DIAC have been investigated by the
Office of the Australian Information Commissioner in a recent 'own motion'
investigation.  A copy of the report can be accessed at:
[1]http://www.oaic.gov.au/publications/repo...

It would assist DIAC in managing its FOI caseload if you could provide a
response to this request by close of business, Australian Eastern Standard
Time Friday 26 July 2013.

Please do not hesitate to contact me should you wish to discuss.

Yours sincerely

Jessica Hallams

Dear Mr Philips

I note that you have not responded to the request from DIAC on 23 July
2013. Your response is due today. As we advised on 23 July, DIAC has a
large backlog of cases.

I can advise you that a decision on the request will be provided to you by
the beginning of next week at the latest.

On that basis, I am seeking your agreement to an extension of time of 7
calendar days, which would make the due date Monday 12 July 2013.

Yours sincerely
