FOI20/178 18/01/2021 Correspondence about the Foreign Influence
Transparency Scheme (FITS), from 29 June 2018 until 8 October 2020 between the Department and media organisations which are Chinese state owned or broadcast/publish in the Chinese language, or target the Chinese community in Australia.

The correspondence includes:

i. Correspondence encouraging recipients to consider whether the Foreign Influence Transparency Scheme applies to their circumstances;
ii. Correspondence encouraging recipients to consider registering under the Foreign Influence Transparency Scheme;
iii. Discussion of potential transparency notices and/or provisional transparency notices; and
iv. Correspondence about the circumstances under which recipients of that correspondence may face penalties. 3 documents released in part
