Dear Wyndham City Council,

A couple of years ago, your website has guidelines on construction of pergolas and deck that don't need building permit; this information is no longer available on your website. Can you please provide me a copy of this document?

Yours faithfully,
Wyndham City Resident

James Heritage, Wyndham City Council

Good morning,

Thanks for your e-mail below.

Please refer to the following link for Schedule 8 of the Building Regulations which provide exemptions for building permits.

http://www.austlii.edu.au/au/legis/vic/c...

I draw your attention to item 16 for information relating to pergola exemptions.

Feel free to contact me on the below details if you have any queries.

Kind regards

Please refer to Victoria Building Regulations (Schedule 8). Provided link seems outdated, however, copy can be found here: http://www.legislation.vic.gov.au/domino...

for the larger public,
i've spoken to town planning team in Wyndham council and no permit is required for a standard deck upto 800mm height. This doesnt apply if the deck is over easements or over size etc etc, call Town Planning on (03) 9742 0777 for your specific case.
