Dear MBX FOI,
Thank you for your reply and clarification.

I requested the following:
“a copy of your noise thresholds that Airservices Australia use to
determine whether or not aircraft noise triggers a potential environmental significance.” (refer Environmental Assessment of Proposed Changes to SIDs
and STARs at Hobart Airport CIRRIS EA-0001407 Version 1.3 Effective 8
November 2018”

You provided this information:
Refer Table 6 (page 23) and Appendix A (page 66->) of the report (as
mentioned on page 60 of the report which you refer to in your email)

I note:
Table 6: lists “Newly overflown” Noise Metric N70 & N65 Day and Night that lists a trigger would occur for anything > 0 flights.

Primrose Sands was in a newly overflown area.
We have been in Primrose since 1968 and NO planes have ever flown through this area.
All planes are very low at or around 1,000ft over our home and noise levels have been >79dB, so my understanding of ASA’s Noise Metrics Table indicates that anything greater than ZERO flights >N65 triggers a potential environmental significance.

Given that we have gone from ZERO flight to >10,000 annually this would be considered a mammoth environmental significance.

I refer to Step 7 from the listed ASA's doc on page 69 Appendix A.
Step 7 – If any criteria are triggered, and the change is planned to proceed in its current form, then the change should be referred to the Commonwealth Environment Minister for advice and a determination of whether it constitutes ‘significant impact’ (as per the requirements of the EPBC Act).

Please provide a copy of the referrals sent to the Commonwealth Environment Minister and correspondence received back, regarding the determination of whether the increased noise incidents
(from 0 to 10,000) over the Newly overflown area constituted a 'significant impact'.
This would also include any document that permitted ASA to continue with the current flight path over Primrose Sands.

Yours sincerely,

Cathy Minnucci

Dear MBX FOI,

RE: copy of the referrals sent to the Commonwealth Environment Minister and correspondence
received back, regarding the determination of whether the increased noise incidents (from 0

any document that permitted ASA to continue with the current flight path over Primrose

I will take your reply and refusal, to imply that no referrals /correspondence / or documents were shared with the Commonwealth Environment Minister by Airservices Australia on this matter.

If this understanding is not correct, please just reply otherwise.
Thank you very much for your help on this matter.

Yours sincerely,
