Information & Documents for Julie Bishop

Vito Guzzardi made this Freedom of Information request to Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet

This request has been closed to new correspondence from the public body. Contact us if you think it ought be re-opened.

The request was successful.

Dear Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet,

Having unsuccessfully tried to directly contact Julie Bishop to find out information & associated documents, her and her office have not emailed back. I have also asked the same information from the Dept of Finance & DFAT and all have said to contact her directly or go through IPEA. IPEA have said they MAY have the information but it wont be until March 2018. Having seen previous IPEA reports I dont believe they hold the information / documents to address my FOI query. My queries are:-

Please provide the following request for information, answers and / or clarification:-

Why was Julie Bishop was in Melbourne on 4 November 2017;
What meetings or official business was Ms Bishop attending;
What dates did Ms Bishop arrive in and left Melbourne;
How much did the flight/s cost the taxpayer;
How many flight/s were charged for;
Who were those flight/s for;
How much did the accommodation cost the taxpayer;
How many night/s were charged for; and
Details regarding chauffeur driven transport or any other type of car / private transport.

Omly last night on ABC's Q&A the PM said that Bishop was the best foreign mimister Australia has ever had.......hopefully SOMEONE can address my important FOI query.

Yours faithfully,

Vito Guzzardi

FOI, Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet

UNCLASSIFIED
Dear Mr Guzzardi

Thank you for your email.

In the first instance, I should advise you that your request, which is for information, is not valid for the purposes of the Freedom of Information Act 1982, which requires you to make a request for documents.

However, we have made some internal inquiries and I am able to advise you that this Department does not have any responsibility for the Foreign Minister's travel and therefore does not have any documents along the lines of your request.

You will need to make a valid FOI application to the Minister for Foreign Affairs, by specifying which documents you are seeking access to.

We have now closed this matter.

Yours sincerely
