List of approved honorary doctorate recipients as of February 28, 2022

Alexander made this Freedom of Information request to University of Melbourne

This request has been closed to new correspondence from the public body. Contact us if you think it ought be re-opened.

Response to this request is long overdue. By law, under all circumstances, University of Melbourne should have responded by now (details). You can complain by requesting an internal review.

Dear University of Melbourne,

my name is Alexander and I am making this request under the FOI Act.

I am seeking a document dated prior to February 15, 2022, containing the final list of the approved honorary doctorate nominees who were due to receive their honorary doctorates in the February 2022 ceremony, as noted in this press release: https://about.unimelb.edu.au/newsroom/ne... --

"A number of graduates who were due to receive their honorary doctorates on Monday night were unable to attend the in-person ceremony for a variety of reasons. This list includes three women and an Indigenous man who were recognised for outstanding achievements in their fields of endeavour. These honorary doctorates will be conferred at a later date."

I understand you may see a need to redact the names of the additional approved recipients of the honorary doctorates who were unable to attend; if you do so, please annotate how many lines and identities were redacted. If you intend to redact all information about the approved honourees who were unable to attend, I would respectfully request at least the fields of endeavour of the absent recipients not be redacted, e.g. "medical", "architecture", etc.

I understand this request attracts an application fee; I will accompany the fee via postal mail once I am assigned a reference number that I can put on the payment.

If this request will attract additional access charges, I respectfully request that those fees get waived as this request is in the public interest and is available to the public at RightToKnow.org.au.

Yours faithfully,

Alexander

foi-officer, University of Melbourne

Dear foi-officer,

My apologies. The RTK website makes it hard to tell that the subject line was changed. Payment will be sent using that reference. Sorry for the confusion.

Yours sincerely,

Alexander
