Department of Education did not have the information requested.

Dear Department of Education,

We are an independent company and currently have our board game Driven For Success available in New Zealand with over 1000 games sold to date.

We are now progressing with a Australia Driven For Success Board Games to support students with passing thier theory driving testing.

We would be greatful if you are able to supply us a list of all secondary schools throughout Australia in order for us to promote our game and seek interested parties to enable us to consider if production of iur game in Australia would be advantageous to all parties considered and would appreciate your support in doing so

We thank you in advance

Education - FOI, Department of Education

Dear Ian,

We refer to your request under the Freedom of Information Act 1982 (FOI
Act), received by the Department of Education (department) on 16 June
2023. The first part of your request is in the following terms:

“…a list of all secondary schools throughout Australia”

The second part of your request is in the following terms:

“…list of emailing addresses for coordinators for all
Australian secondary schools”

For the purposes of this email, we will refer to the first part of your
request as ‘part A’ and the second part of your request as ‘part B.’

As the FOI Act provides a right of access to documents rather than to
information, the department has interpreted your request to be for a
document containing the information you have requested.

We note that part B of your request was set out in the subject line of
your request. We have interpreted your FOI request to include this part.

We have consulted with the relevant business area of the department about
your request and advise as follows.

Part A

We are advised that the department does not hold a discrete document
containing the information you have requested, and that the information is
publicly available. We are advised that the Australian Curriculum,
Assessment and Reporting Authority (ACARA) maintains a School Profile
document ([1]school-profile-2022.xlsx (live.com)), which contains a list
of all Australian schools and URLs to their respective websites as well as
URLs to the schools’ governing bodies. We are further advised that the
Australian Schools List is also publicly available on ACARA’s website
([2]School Search (acara.edu.au)). We are advised that this list includes
links to each school’s MySchool webpage and the relevant school’s website
can be accessed from this webpage.

Part B

We are advised that the department does not hold a discrete document
containing the information you have requested at part B of your request.
We are further advised that the department does not hold contact
information for all Australian secondary schools as there is no legal
requirement for the department to collect this information. Noting this,
we are advised that while the department may hold contact information for
some schools, the department would not be able to guarantee that the
contact information it holds is accurate or up-to-date. We are advised
that the links to school websites available via ACARA’s website as set out
above may include the information you seek at this part of your request.

Noting the above, we will treat your FOI request as withdrawn and will not
take any further action in relation to it unless you advise otherwise by
Monday 26 June 2023.

Further assistance

If you have any questions, please email [3][email address].

Yours sincerely
