Thank you for your enquiry dated 16 June 2021 to the Freedom of Information section in DFAT, which has been forwarded to the Australian Passport Office for a response.

Due to the impact of COVID-19, the expected release of the next generation of Australian passport has been delayed by 12 to 18 months. The R series passport is now planned for release sometime in mid to late 2022.
