Number of cars fined since removal of rego stickers

Dear VicRoads,

I am writing to inquire about VIC Roads' policy regarding the notification of drivers on the expiration of vehicle registration, since removal of the rego stickers.

Could you please provide information regarding the following:

1. What methods do VIC Roads use notify drivers when their vehicle registration is about to expire? How about elderly people, or those that do not use tech?

2. In case a vehicle owner misses the renewal deadline and their registration has expired, what best practice guidelines (as required by ASIC regulatory guidelines) does VIC Roads take to notify these drivers about the expired registration?

3. What is the VIC Roads charter around ensuring cars maintain valid registration and notifying drivers when they don't (E.g. Optus, Vodafone, EnergyAustralia, Yarra Water and even my kids school send overdue notices when a payment is late).

4. How many vehicles in the last 2-years were known to be driving around unregistered, versus in 2014 when we had the stickers on the windscreen?

5. How many accidents involved cars that were unregistered in past 2-years, versus in 2014 when we had the stickers on the windscreen.

6. Are there any additional services or tools available to help drivers stay informed about their vehicle registration status and renewal deadlines, such as online portals or mobile applications?

I would greatly appreciate it if you could provide me with detailed information regarding these queries. Understanding VIC Roads' policies and procedures regarding vehicle registration expiration notifications will not only help me ensure compliance with regulations but also assist in promoting safer and more responsible driving practices among other motorists.
