Dear Alanah,

To confirm, I am seeking correspondence between 1 January 2023 to 4 July 2023.

Yours sincerely,

Bev D

FOI, Department of Health

Good afternoon,

I refer to your request to the Department of Health and Aged Care, reproduced below.

The statutory due date for your request is currently 3 August 2023.

Section 15AA of the FOI Act permits the department to extend the statutory processing timeframe, with your agreement, for a period of up to 30 calendar days.

To ensure that department has undertaken all reasonable steps to identify all documents relevant to your request, and for the decision maker to make a well-balanced decision on access to any such documents identified, I seek your agreement to an extension of 30 calendar days.

If you agree to this extension, the statutory due date will then be 2 September 2023. The department will, however, continue to process your request as quickly as possible.

It would assist if you could please advise by 18 July 2023 if you agree to this extension of time. If we do not hear from you by this date or if you do not agree to the extension, I will seek an extension of time from the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) under section 15AB of the FOI Act.

We thank you for your ongoing patience and cooperation as we continue to process your request.

If you have any questions regarding any of the matters discussed in this email, contact [email address].

Kind regards,

Dear FOI,

Thank you for your email. I agree to an extension until 2 September 2023, however, will expect a response by then.

Please note, you requested a response by 18 July 2023, yet a response was only provided yesterday, 27 July 2023.

Yours sincerely,

Bev D

FOI, Department of Health

Apologies for the confusion - response should have been noted as due by '28' as opposed to '18' July - in any case thank you for the timely response and for agreeing to the extension. The department will continue to process your request as quickly as possible and will respond by 2 September 2023, if not earlier.
