This request has been closed to new correspondence from the public body. Contact us if you think it ought be re-opened.

The request was successful.

Dear National Library of Australia,

As a request for information under the Freedom of Information Act, please act on this request for:

Details of all correspondence received via the Contact Trove Support webform (https://trove.nla.gov.au/contact-trove-s...) for the period 1 July 2020 to 14 july 2020 inclusive, relating to POSITIVE feedback concerning the Trove version update in June, 2020

Yours faithfully,

Albert Frankaland

FOI, National Library of Australia

Dear Mr. Frankaland

Thank you for your request for documents below. In accordance with subsection 15(5)(a) of the Freedom of Information Act 1982, I confirm receipt of your request.

I request that you agree to an extension of 30 days for the decision making period, making the statutory due date of the decision in response to this request 4 February 2022. This is to take into account:
- The public service shutdown between 25 December 2021 and 3 January 2022.
- As you know, the National Library is a small agency with limited resources and I am the only FOI officer. In addition to the shutdown period, I will be on leave from 20 December 2021.

Taking the above into account in calculating the number of days until the usual statutory deadline of 8 January 2022, there would only be 10 days, which is a third of the usual statutory decision period of 30 days.

Please confirm by return email that you agree to the extension by COB 17 December 2021.

Thank you for your understanding.

Kind regards
Angie

Dear Mr Frankaland

This is in relation to your FOI request of 12 December 2021. You requested documents containing details of all correspondence received via the Contact Trove Support webform for the period of 1 July 2020 to 14 July 2020 inclusive, relating to positive feedback concerning the Trove version update in June, 2020. Please see attached document within the scope of your request.

The relevant documents falling within the scope of your request contain personal information of members of the public. Documents or parts of documents containing personal information are exempt from disclosure under the FOI Act in certain circumstances. In this case:
• the relevant personal information is not well known and does not appear to be available from public sources
• the person(s) to whom the information relates may be known to be associated with the matters dealt with in the document
• enquiries received by the Library in the past in relation to Trove indicate a concern of harassment within the relevant sector of the community
• the release of the personal information would not further promote objects of the FOI Act (e.g. increased scrutiny of Government activities), which is supported by release of the remaining information in the relevant documents.

Under section 47F of the FOI Act, the Library has therefore made the decision to redact certain personal information (including information that can reasonably identify an individual) contained in these documents, on account of that information being determined as conditionally exempt. This is because the disclosure of that information would involve the unreasonable disclosure of personal information (subsection 47F(2)). Personal information that has been redacted include names and contact details. Where personal information has been redacted, the text ‘[name redacted]’ or similar will appear to indicate what type of personal information has been redacted.

Please note that, when introducing a significant change, it is our experience that people are much more likely to get in touch when they have had a negative experience or have questions about the new functionality than simply to convey positive feedback.

Kind regards
Angie
