Dear Department of Communications and the Arts,

This is a follow up FOI which was made of the 5th of December regarding the MyBroadband data set.

Dear Mr Nothdurft,
Please find attached the redacted email train that led to the decommissioning of the MyBroadband datasets from NationalMap (run by CSIRO/Data61) and Data.gov.au (run by the Digital Transformation Agency).

In short, the removal of the datasets had been in discussion for some time, as the data was becoming increasingly outdated and this was generating complaints to the operators of the abovementioned websites. We tried denoting the datasets as "archive" and making notes to the effect that the data was dated, and would not be updated, however this did not reduce the volume of complaints being generated.

As there is no resourcing for producing an update of the analysis, we saw no option other than to remove the dataset.

Regards

The (prior) MyBroadband team
