Request of NGA Lindy LEE Ouroboros for $14 M Budget

We're waiting for Mathieu Briand to read recent responses and update the status.

Dear Attorney-General's Department,
Dear Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet,
Nga, commissioned without competition or tenders a work from Lindy LEE Ouroboros for
$14 M. This will be pay by public money from taxpayer.

I asked NGA and the previous and new Minister for the Art to communicate the budget to the public. They refused .

The artist in a recent interview said it was accessible : “People are welcome to see the breakdown of the budget…”

https://www.smh.com.au/national/thank-yo...

Where ?

This project has been decided by NGA without competition or tender who is already surprising.
The communication about the cost, the production, the budget is totally opaque.

The only information’s I get is the artist will be pay between 10-15 % of the budget.
So the artist will be pay from PUBLIC MONEY between 2$M and 3 $M.

As a taxpayer I would like to know what justified this fee.

I am very surprised as a citizen and taxpayer about the process of this decision who is not in Australian standard and values and the fact that I can’t access to the budget.

I did many request through the “right to know” without any answer than send me in Kafaka Castel. Do we have the right to know or is it just an illusion?

-I would like to know who can guarantee my right to know how my taxes are spend.
-I would like to know who guarantee the good governance of NGA ?
-I would like to know who I have to contact to have my right as an Australian citizen and taxpayer respected.

As responsible of National Budget I ask your government to say how the $14 M will be spent precialsy and why no tenders has been done.

Very best

OFFICIAL
Dear Mathieu

Thank you for applying to the Attorney-General's Department (the department) for access to documents under the Freedom of Information Act 1982 (FOI Act).

Please note that the department does not have policy responsibility for arts funding. As such, you may wish to direct your enquiry to the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communication and the Arts (DITRDC). You can find guidance on how to make an FOI request to DITRDC here: https://www.infrastructure.gov.au/about-....

Regardless, please be advised that your request in its current form is not valid for the purposes of s 15 of the FOI Act. The FOI Act does not require the department to research information – the obligation is only to provide access to existing documents. If you wish to proceed with this request, please clarify which document you are seeking to access under the FOI Act.
