RWY30 and RWY12 flight maps for Hobart Airport

The request was partially successful.

Dear Airservices Australia,

Good evening,
Could I please be provided copies of ALL publicly released ASA produced flight maps for Hobart Airport covering departing and arrival flight paths from January 2017 - April 2025.
This would include all flight maps produced for ASA's online content, ASA's Community Engagement Sessions, and flight path maps provided to other agencies.

Yours faithfully,
Cathy Minnucci

Dear MBX FOI,
Thank you Kathryn,

Appreciated your help in locating some of the information online.

Basically I was requiring maps of the actual departing and arriving flight path into Hobart Airport BEFORE all 2017 changes. This may only be a map or two??
I have also received confirmation from ASA that a map presented as March 2025 was actually the same Hobart flight path as 2019.
What is missing from this map is the international flight paths routes from NZ and Asia...as we already had these flights passing over our communities, but these flights seem to be on an ad hoc route.

So just to confirm, if you could supply the Hobart flight path maps prior to 2017 flight changes and the currently used 2025 flight path maps that include both international and domestic arrival and departure routes

Hope this will reduce the workload scope for this FOI request.

Yours sincerely,

Cathy Minnucci

Dear Ms Minnucci

Thank you for your response below, however, we need to further refine the
scope of your request please.

We have interpreted your revised request to cover:

i. the Hobart departing and arriving flight paths that were in place prior
to the flight path changes implemented in September 2017; and
ii. the current Hobart departing and arriving flight paths that include
both international and domestic arrival and departure flight paths.

If the above interpretation is correct, please confirm whether:

 1. paragraphs i. and ii. of your revised request is seeking copies of
google earth images overlaid with flight paths (which you also refer
to as ‘flight path maps’ in your correspondence). For example:

 2. If your answer is yes to clarification question number 1 above, please
confirm our understanding that:

 a. Figure 1 illustrating arrival flights paths to runway 30 one
month prior to the flight path changes implemented in September
2017 taken from page 3 of the following report
[1]17-0122-BKT-HobartReviewReport.pdf_072bba732f2647f0ad0d99c32a358ae4
would satisfy part of paragraph i. of your revised FOI request;
and
 b. Figure 3 on page 7 of
[2]YMHB_NewSIDS-STARS_EnvAssessment_28Jun17_webpage.pdf_839d13667d5d23a56b1ad5c62ebffb5c
that depicts arrival (in red) and departure (in green) flight
paths in February 2017 would satisfy all of paragraph i. of your
revised FOI request as Figure 3 ‘depicts the Hobart departing and
arriving flight paths that were in place prior to the flight path
changes implemented in September 2017’.

 3. If your answer is yes to clarification question number 2 above, please
confirm the remaining scope of your FOI request is:

Requesting a copy of current Hobart departing and arriving flight paths
(i.e. google earth images overlaid with flight paths) that includes both
international and domestic arrival and departure flight paths

 4. If the revised scope in clarification question number 3 above is not
accurate, please provide further information to assist our
understanding and to guide our document searches. Please also provide
a copy of or link to the March 2025 map referred to in your
correspondence below.

Kind regards

Kathryn

Dear MBX FOI,

Dear MBX FOI,

Good afternoon Kathryn

I have checked the Online documents in the links you previously supplied to me.
I need a copy of the Hobart flight paths BEFORE all changes were made.
To make it clear-
1: please provide 2016 flight map/s which incorporate all arrivals and departures into Hobart Airport.

2: YES: Requesting a copy of current Hobart departing and arriving flight paths
(i.e. google earth images overlaid with flight paths) that includes both
international and domestic arrival and departure flight paths.

In regard to 2: March 2025 image was provided to Hobart CACG's March Meeting by ASA representative. When queried about image it was confirmed to be the 2019 flight map.
This map would have no bearing on my request as per no 2.

Hope this helps narrow it down.

Dear MBX FOI,
Good afternoon Kathryn,
I am quite confused by your latest email dated today 13/5/2025, in that you are still waiting for a response from me regarding your email on 30 April 2025 seeking clarification on the scope of your FOI.

I note the following email thread below that I sent straight back to you after your request.
To try and reset your obligations a further 30 days is nothing more than stalling tactics.
If you needed more time you just needed to ask...but to ignore my reply to you on the 30th April 2025 and assume I had not replied is just plain dishonesty.

Hoping you can locate the requested maps within a timely manner.
I am happy to allow you an extension until the end of the week.

Thanking you
Cathy

Good afternoon Ms Minnucci

We never ignore correspondence from any of our FOI applicants and your
accusation of dishonesty on our part is offensive.

We have no record of receipt of the email you have pasted below as being
DELIVERED to the Airservices FOI mailbox on 30 April 2025 nor do we have
anything to indicate there were any issues with the Airservices FOI
mailbox on or around that day.  Otherwise, we would have responded
consistent with our approach willingness to engage with you to-date
throughout this matter.

Our engagement with you comprises us spending a number of hours liaising
with internal stakeholders, drafting detailed responses to you and
including additional information in our effort to clarify your request and
to identify the ‘flight maps’ you are seeking. The follow up email earlier
today is further evidence of our continued effort to engage with you in
accordance with our FOI obligations to clarify your request.

While we have no trace of the email you have pasted below as being
DELIVERED to the Airservices FOI mailbox on 30 April 2025, we will record
it as being received by us on that date. This means if we can identify the
document you require from the information you provided in that email, the
FOI request is considered a valid request on and from that date and the
30-day statutory processing period will commence the day after receipt
(i.e. 1 May 2025).

The relevant part of your email dated 30 April 2025 is as follows:

I need a copy of the Hobart flight paths BEFORE all changes were made.

To make it clear-

1: please provide 2016 flight map/s which incorporate all arrivals and
departures into Hobart Airport.

2: YES: Requesting a copy of current Hobart departing and arriving flight
paths

(i.e. google earth images overlaid with flight paths) that includes both

international and domestic arrival and departure flight paths.

In regard to 2: March 2025 image was provided to Hobart CACG's March
Meeting by ASA representative. When queried about image it was confirmed
to be the 2019 flight map.

This map would have no bearing on my request as per no 2.

Hope this helps narrow it down.

Our assessment of the information above is as follows:

 A. We confirm we have reached consensus that the documents being sought
by you (i.e. flight path maps) are google earth images overlaid with
flight paths.
 B. We can identify the document being requested in relation to ‘a copy of
current (2025) Hobart departing and arriving flight paths (i.e. google
earth images overlaid with flight paths) that includes both
international and domestic arrival and departure flight paths’
 C. We cannot identify the document being requested in relation to ‘please
provide 2016 flight map/s which incorporate all arrivals and
departures into Hobart Airport ‘ noting this phrase does not
correspond with the clarification questions in our email dated 30
April 2025 and also introduces a new date (i.e. 2016 as opposed to
2017) to the scope of your request for no apparent or clear reason.
Please respond to our clarification questions, specifically 2b
regarding the google earth image overlaid with flight paths that
depicts arrival (in red) and departure (in green) flight paths in
February 2017 that were in place prior to the flight path changes that
were implemented in September 2017.

We will continue to process your request under para B above with a due
date for a decision being 30 May 2025.

We confirm we are not processing para C above as we still cannot identify
the document being requested and will wait for your response in in this
regard.

Kind regards

Kathryn

Dear MBX FOI,

Good afternoon Kathryn,
Once I again respectfully, the reply email 30/4/2025 I sent is evident within the thread.
I am unsure what you are seeing your end.

In answer to your questions:

A: YES - if you use Google images as your standard flight maps - copies of these would be appreciated.
B: YES - you indicate that you have this 2025 Flight Map - a copy would be appreciated
C: ?? - Your previous thread indicated you would provide a map prior to Sept 2017 flight changes.
I followed up with a request for 2016 maps so that I could actually obtain the CORRECT flight maps.
ASA have produced so many maps that it has become increasing difficult to understand the starting point before ALL changes.
So the request is for the approved flight map/s for all flight arrivals and departures at Hobart Airport in 2016 AND prior to changes made in 2017. (Logically thinking the 2016 and early 2017 "actual flight path maps" should be identical.)

Hope this provides better clarity.
I note my initial request was made on 15th April 2025, and my request for flight maps has not changed.

Thanking you
Cathy
