Complaints made to CASA by Gareth Train (deceased)
Dear Civil Aviation Safety Authority,
Pursuant to the Freedom of information Act 1982 (Cth), I wish to request access to the following documents:
“Copies of any complaints made to the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) by Mr Gareth Train (deceased).”
By way of context, Queensland State Coroner Terry Ryan has recently published his Findings of Inquest in relation to the deaths of Matthew Joseph Arnold; Rachel Clare McCrow; Alan Thomas Brendan Dare; Gareth Daniel Train; Nathaniel Charles Train and Stacey Jane Train (the Inquest).
These findings are publicly accessible on the Queensland Coroners Court website at: https://www.coronerscourt.qld.gov.au/__d...
At [983] of His Honour’s findings, reference is made to a communication in which it is said that Mr Gareth Train had lodged complaints with CASA in relation to aviation activities proximate to his house.
I make this request noting that the existence of the complaints themselves is a matter within the public domain and that there is a significant public interest in understanding the circumstances that lead to the deaths and resultant inquest.
Personal information of persons other than Gareth Train, Nathaniel Train and Stacey Train may be excluded from this request and treated as irrelevant. Similarly, I do not require contact details such as physical addresses, email addresses or phone numbers.
Regards,
Big M (pseud.)
