Demolish and Rebuild Single house - Charged Drainage

We're waiting for Jagdeep S Johal to read a recent response and update the status.

Dear Blacktown City Council,

My property is in Kings park, (existing single storey) and it slopes to the rear from street.

I have engaged the Architect to prepare plans under CDC Approval, and paid advance partial fee.

Architect has mentioned for single house (double storey) it is permitted to have a charged system along with the 5000L Rainwater tank and 2.5 mtrs long Absorption trench.

I am confused as have heard that council doesn't permit the charged systems anymore.

Can you please confirm if its correct way to do it don't want to waste money on all stuff if its not going to be approved under CDC.

I have checked with neighbours they are not willing to give easement because of their Garden bed and sheds etc.

Yours faithfully,
Jagdeep S Johal

Good afternoon Jagdeep and thankyou for your enquiry.

Regarding stormwater drainage I advise the following.
- A charges system is permitted for a dwelling (not dual occupancies or the like) only if the overflow from the rainwater tank can be charged to the front boundary, but then must drain via gravity to the street kerb. The front boundary must be higher than the kerb outlet.
If not, the overflow will need to go to an absorption trench.
- For surface water drainage (e.g. from the driveway and hard stand surface areas, drainage behind retaining wall), it will need to be disposed of into an absorption trench.
- Refer to the requirements in Part C DCP clause 3.5.2.

I trust this information is helpful.
